Important information for this Week August 22-August 26.


What a great start to the new year! Thank you to PTA and all parents, staff and students who helped our first week of school to be a great success.


Monday, August 22, 2016, is our first PTA/SSC/ELAC Meeting at 5:30pm.  Please join us to review important information for the start of our year.


Are you interested in a new laptop or kindle?  Join PTA for your chance to win!  Membership is $10.00.


Positive attendance is very important. School begins at 8:30am. Breakfast is served from the Multipurpose Room at 8:00am.

Gates open at 8:15am for our “Get Moving Program” on the basketball courts.  When arriving to school,  Please take your student to the basketball court for grades 1-5 and to the Kinder Prep and Kinder yard for KP and Kinders.  Please do not take your student to the classroom doors nor in the hallways.


Wednesday is an early release day of 1:30 for 1st-5th grades.  Please be prompt in picking up your student.


Lunch on the Lawn is Aug. 31st- Pre-k/Kinder and 1st grade 11:30am-12:20pm and 2nd-5th 12:00pm-1:00pm. Come enjoy lunch, music and fun with your student.  Note Aug. 31st is an early dismissal day.


The lifeskill of the month is determination.  Students will learn continue to learn what it looks like and sounds like to show determination.


Our example of a person who has shown determination is Pharrell Williams.  He has shown determination since 7th grade band camp. He has earned ten Grammy Awards and is best known for his single "Happy". considering August is "Admit You're Happy Month".


Remember:  As we venture through our school year of truth in creativity, learning and talent, Pennycook Scholars are learners today and leaders tomorrow.

The purpose of establishing the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools Program (VFSCS) is to ensure students have clear pathways from Preschool to College and Career. The VFSCS program provides comprehensive academic, social, mental, and physical education services to meet student, family, and community needs beginning in the North Vallejo community.

Program's Goal and Objectives:

The goal of the Vallejo Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) is to improve student academic achievement and well being through the offering of comprehensive high-quality services.  The following are the program's main objectives:

  • Improve student achievement (closing the achievement gap)

  • Improve student attendance

  • Reduce student referrals, suspensions, and expulsions

  • Increase student well-being in a range of health indices

  • Improve school campus safety

  • Increase parent involvement in their children's education
