Weekly Message Principal Mitchell-Lewis

Hello, this is Mrs. Mitchell-Lewis from Pennycook Elementary school with important information for this week of May 30- June 2 and other important dates.

We are in need of volunteers for our Field Day and Engineering Day on June 1st. Please let your students' teacher know if you are able to assist at any time during that day.  Note we are out of school at 1:30pm.

Early dismissal days are from May 30th through June 8th. The last day of school is June 8th.

Fidget spinners have become very popular as toys, not as therapeutic devices for children with ADHD. Fidget spinners used as toys are not allowed at school.  Please have students keep these items and all other toys at home.

Fun Fact:  Did you know this month is Asian / Pacific American Heritage Month?  Maya Lin, a Chinese American, is a trained artist and architect best known for her work, the Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial in Washington D.C.  Her work is culturally diverse.  It is inspired by Japanese Gardens, Hopewell Indian Earth mounds and American Earthworks artists from the 1960’s and 70’s.

Our lifeskill of the month is Honesty: Teachers and students will review what Honesty looks like and sounds like.

As always, working together, Pennycook Scholars are learners today and leaders tomorrow.
