Pennycook Elementary School, as a California K-12 public school which receives categorical funds, has a School Site Council (SSC).   The SSC must develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).  Next, the group will recommend the SPSA to the local governing board for approval.  After approval, the SSC will monitor the implementation of the SPSA and evaluate the effectiveness of the planned activities at least annually.                                  

English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC):

Pennycook School, as a California K-12 public school with 21 or more English learners, has an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).The responsibilities of the ELAC include (1) advising the principal and staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA); (2) assisting in the development of  the school’s needs assessment and annual language census; and  (3) ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
